Quianite is a type of magic crystal often called a "pure-spring crystal" thanks to its ability to create pure water in two ways. ==Water Creation== When quianite is activated by interaction with outside magic it will produce absolutely pure water around it. In air, the water will seem to form in tiny clouds of vapor being rapidly pulled to a point in the middle where it condenses into liquid water. On average, the quianite can produce a volume of water equal to the crystal's volume in about three seconds. Quianite is very easy to activate with just a small amount of magic passing through it, so it is often activated by natural magic in the wild. Many springs across the world are caused by an abundance of quianite growing in a place where it is being constantly activated. Quianite will not produce water if the crystal is under sufficient pressure depending on the crystal's size, so small to medium crystals can be safely contained by putting them in water-tight containers which will fill up to the crystal's pressure limit. ==Purification== Active quianite crystals also continually purify water that they are submerged in of particles and small organisms. Unlike mundane purification methods such as charcoal, the crystals don't absorb the contaminants, but rather cause them to disintegrate into smaller particles until they vanish completely. Settlements will often leave Quianite crystals in their water supply to take advantage of this property. A single gram of quianite that is constantly activated can clean a liter of moderately dirty water in about five minutes; however, if the crystal is only activated as much as it would be naturally in normal conditions, the same water would take about an hour to clean. As a particle of contaminant vanishes from being purified, a small sparkle of blue energy can be seen. Splashing dirty water onto a large pool of quianite-purified water can produce beautiful effects from this. ==Other Uses== Skilled adepts can activate quianite to produce other magical effects, most often healing spells or spells to remove diseases, poisons, and curses from a person. Quianite is not as effective at aggressive or defensive magic as normal water crystals are. [[Category:Geology]]
